5 Tips to Feel more Motivated on a Monday

Because Mondays are the worst!

You hit that snooze button one too many times and before you know it you have 10 minutes to get out the door and you really need about 30. I do this way too many times than I'm willing to admit, but I will tell you it absolutely ruins my entire day.

Here are 5 tips that I try to do each morning so that I will be motivated and productive throughout the day!

1. Set your alarm an hour before you "need" to be up so that way if you do get a couple of extra Zzz's you're still going to have time to have an extra cup of coffee and maybe listen to the new song that your favorite cover band just released as you prep yourself for the day ahead.

2. Eat a healthy breakfast. My favorite is a spinach and egg white omelet with a dash of smoked paprika on top, a piece of whole grain toast and fresh berries on the side. Anything high in protein will keep you full all morning so that you can resist that midmorning snack!

Leaving my house without breakfast and coffee almost always results in me stopping by Starbucks on the way to work where I always pay $7+ for a (large) cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Eating breakfast before you leave your house is not only healthier for you, but it's healthier for your piggy bank too!

3. Check one thing off your to do list before you start your day. This is something I plan to do daily. It is that first ounce of motivation that just gets my whole day rolling! Think small though. Put dishes away, prep the food you are going to cook for dinner...you don't have to conquer the world before breakfast!

Working full-time in retail and running a website and blog can be a major workload sometimes! Getting started early on my to-do list helps me have a less stressful and productive day.

4.Looking Pretty = Feeling Pretty. This is a must-have for me! I will not have a productive Monday (or day) unless I feel my best! And that means I have to look my best! Taking a few extra minutes in the mornings to do a little self-care, will help you get through your Monday with more optimism and motivation!

Just taking the time to blend my eyeshadow perfectly and applying a second coat of mascara is usually all it takes to make me inspired for the day ahead and put a smile on my face!

5.Determine your end goal. If you are already feeling stress from other aspects of your daily life, it it likely that you feel a little overwhelmed and agitated in the mornings when thinking about everything that needs to get done for the day. Relax. Determine what your end goal is. Set acheiveable goals and decide exactly what needs to be done by the end of the day. Break everything down. Don't sweat the small stuff.

This is something I struggle with daily. I always think about all the things that I need to get done by the end of the day and forget to remember why I'm doing these things. It's easy to get lost in the stress and drama of life, but always remember to look at the bigger picture!

If you try these 5 things and you still have the most horrible Monday of all Mondays...don't worry! You still have 6 more days to turn your week around!

Happy Monday Ya'll!

xoxo,

anne
